About AABP

Internships

We offer internship opportunities for students who are looking for hands-on experience in the fields represented by our projects or in the herbarium.

In 2007, AABP collaborated with the Pinhead Institute in Telluride, Co and hosted two students for a summer internship program. The team was happy to have the to receive additional help in the field and the herbarium from Dawson White and Kyle Rasmussen. Dawson spent majority of the summer working closely with Dr. John Janovec and the field team. Kyle initially worked in the herbarium in Texas before he embarked on an adventure that took him to the rainforest of Peru. Both interns proved valuable to the team and we appreciated the opportunity to host them.

During the summer of 2008, AABP will have the opportunity to host four more interns at one of the project's base, the village town of Quince Mil. These interns will work closely with the team, scientists and field assistants. This group will include two high school students from the Pinhead Institute and two college students (one former Pinhead Intern,). BRIT has been grateful for the help we have received from these interns and in return have been able to educate and train them on conservation issues in the Amazon Rainforest and Andes Mountains of southeastern Peru.

In Texas, we will have two interns for a few months this summer working in the herbarium and assisting staff at BRIT. One intern, Kyle Rasmussen, is returning for his second summer internship through the Pinhead Institute. Kelly Ransom is a local high school senior working with the AABP staff. The BRIT staff is excited to have these interns and look forward to working with them.
