Andes to Amazon Biodiversity Program

Shortly after graduating from TCU in May, Andrew volunteered with the AABP program as a field assistant to study the diversity and ecology of orchids in the Andes-Amazon region of southeastern Peru.After returning from Peru in August of 2006, Andrew began to work specifically for the Andes to Amazon Biodiversity Program at BRIT.He is now working on various projects related to the Los Amigos research station in Peru.Some of which include data entry for inventory and cataloging of species at Los Amigos, Geo-referencing the densities of plant species in areas of South America to produce maps reflecting concentrations of plant families that are of economic interest to south America including the Lecythidaceae family, more commonly known as the Brazil nut family.

Prior to joining BRIT, his experience with field research includes work with the Fort worth Zoo in their department of herpetology and various research based course at TCU, including a senior research project headed by Dr. Gary Ferguson in collaboration with the Forth worth and Dallas Zoos.
