Research Scientist
Andes to Amazon Biodiversity Program
B.S., Biology, Texas Christian University, December, 2004
Rebecca
is one of the first graduate students in the graduate research and
studies program offered through the TCU-BRIT partnership. As an
undergraduate at TCU she worked closely with Dr. Glenn Kroh on forest
ecology projects. She became fascinated with the tropics as a student
on the TCU tropical field biology course in Jamaica and through family
visits to remote areas of Bolivia.
Rebecca is
worked closely with Miguel Chocce, John Janovec, Amanda Neill, John Pinder and
Eric Christenson, and others to study the diversity and ecology of
orchids in the Andes-Amazon region of southeastern Peru. She will applyi innovative mapping techniques to analyze the distribution of
orchid diversity in this region and implications for conservation of
orchid habitat and will focus her graduate studies and research on
selected sites. She was based in the field for one year (2005-2006) to study the effects of season, elevation, and
habitat on the diversity and ecology of orchids in time and space.
