Sean Murphy

Application Developer,

Andes to Amazon Biodiversity Program

Sean Murphy graduated with a B.S. in Electric Engineering concentrating in Software Development and a minor in Mathematics from the University of Memphis in 2000. After graduating from high school, Sean was hired by Microsoft to be their software liaison to local stores of larger corporations while Microsoft built Regional offices in Memphis. Before moving to Dallas, Sean helped spearhead the local internet and intranet boom by managing the city's leading internet solutions provider then partnering in a firm focused on small-business networking, where he worked as the Microsoft and Novell Network Administrator for many local businesses.

In Dallas, after working as the Network Administrator and Operations Manager for an employment solutions company, Sean rediscovered his love for programming, which he refers to as "the ultimate in problem solving." The perfect combination of engineering and mathematics rolled into computers. He has developed web and desktop applications primarily using Microsoft Visual Studio's C# but also in C, Java and PHP. His journey has lead him to be a part of the Andes to Amazon Botany Program where he strives to be a strong contributor in the world's greatest problem; keeping the Earth healthy for all future generations.
