On a broader scale, Janovec and colleagues are also carrying out long-term studies of the diversity, ecology, evolution, biogeography, and conservation of the nutmeg familing of flowering plants, scientifically known as the Myristicaceae. This requires studies in the field and museum at many scales of diversity and distribution, from individual species growing in Madre de Dios, Peru, to groups of species and genera that occur throughout the neotropical region and in other tropical regions as well.
