Vegetative Morphology
Habit: Trees from 2-8 m tall.
Branch: Stems tan to brown, striate.
Leaves: Leaves simple, alternate; the petioles variable in size, to 15 cm long, tan to brown when dry; lamina elliptic to obovate, to 20 x 9 cm, drying olive-brown to dark brown, papyraceous to chartaceous; base acute, decurrent; apex acute to short-acuminate; margins entire, revolute; secondary venation eucamptodromous, the secondary veins arcuate-ascending to the margin, same color as lamina, raised abaxially; tertiary venation conspicuous, parallel to the secondary veins.
Reproductive Morphology
Inflorescence: Staminate infloresence terminal, reduced or elongate, multiple umbel, to ca. 10 cm long.
Flowers: Flowers bisexual, actinomorphic, 5-merous; calyx lobes ovate, green; corolla lobes whitish-green; the anthers white, extending from the flower like a star.
Fruit: Fruit a strongly aromatic berry, globose to elliptic, to ca. 0.8 cm long, green with brown striations when immature, brown when dry, smooth when fresh, striate or furrowed when dry, glabrous, pedicillate, the pedicel to ca. 1 cm long.
Seeds: Seeds 4-5 per fruit.
