Locality Description: Smithsonian Botany Greenhouse accession 99-217. Source: seeds received September, 1999 from Jim West (Reserva Río Guaycuyacu, Pichincha, Ecuador). Wild origin: Ecuador (probably not from the Reserva Guaycuyacu)

Botanical Data

Plant Notes: Stems erect, 0.6 m tall. Abaxial leaf surface green with red veins. Calyx cream-white. Corolla campanulate; greenish-white outside and yellowish-white inside. Anthers dehisce via longitudinal slits, but they initiate via poe-like slits. Style with gland-tipped pubescence. Stigma stomatomorphic. Filaments basally flat and wide; apically thin and thread-like. Photographs of this collection are in the Gesneriaceae photo file (US). Leaf material collected for molecular systematic studies.
